Newman is the Southern Gateway to Karijini National Park.
Set in the Hamersley Ranges, the park is WA’s second largest, encompassing some 627,441 hectares. Much of the southern half of the park is inaccessible and visitors typically concentrate on the gorges in the north. The park has a series of excellent walk trials suitable for the beginner through to the adventurous. Lookouts, camping areas and information shelters are provided throughout the park making it easy to explore. A visit to the Karijini Visitor Centre is a must. Camping facilities are available at Dales Campground. Suitable for caravan, camper trailer, tent and bus. The sites are unpowered however there are generator sites. Bookings cannot be made ahead so we recommend arriving early during peak season to avoid disappointment. Camping fees apply. Karijini Eco Retreat is located at Joffre Gorge. The deluxe eco tents, cabins, campground (Savannah Campground) and facilities incorporate eco-friendly practices to ensure environmentally sustainable management of the park. |
