Driving
The Great Northern Highway will provide some beautiful scenery for the approximate 1200km journey between Perth and Newman. Wildflowers will be in abundance during spring. There are many historical places and interesting towns to visit.
Places to visit:
New Norcia, Australia’s only Monastic town;
Dalwallinu Discovery Centre;
Walga Rock at Cue;
Mt Magnet Mining and Pastoral museum and
take a town Heritage Walk through Meekatharra.

Driving in Western Australia
Distances are usually quite long, so always make sure you have enough water for you and your travel companions. While there are many modern service stations along the way, make sure you always have more than enough fuel for your journey as some service stations may not have the type of fuel you require or be closed.
Please note the only fuel between Newman and Meekatharra (420km) is at Kumarina Roadhouse (160km south of Newman).
Where possible, avoid driving at dawn, dusk and at night as these are the times in which our wildlife is most prolific on the road.
