ANZAC Day Service

April

ANZAC Day is commemorated on the 25th April each year.

The Shire of East Pilbara encourages all residents to join with their family, friends and community in remembering the sacrifice that our servicemen and women have made throughout history, which helped to make Australia the great nation that it is today.
Each ANZAC Day commemorative services are held in Newman, Nullagine and Marble Bar.

Gunfire breakfasts are hosted, and in Newman A Troop Regiment, Pilbara Barracks usually opens their wet mess and hosts the traditional two up game.

NAIDOC Week - June 27th - 3rd July 2022

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week and its acronym has since become the name of the week itself.
